New services for businesses which need to make redundancies or recruit due to the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. And their employees too. Let’s maximise opportunities during these difficult times by working together in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Are you making redundancies due to the Corona virus pandemic?  Or, on the other hand, do you have recruitment opportunities?  Then there’s a new service for firms in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire that could help you.  This information is for all local businesses and employers needing to make changes to their workforce as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Redundancies

If you have already made employees redundant or are about to make small numbers redundant (up to five), the National Careers Service can help affected employees on 0800 917 9419.

If you are planning to make larger-scale redundancies (five or more) you can obtain additional support as an employer.  What’s more, so can your employees.  In these circumstances, please use the same contact details as above but ensure your message includes:

  • Notification of redundancies and scale
  • Number and job roles affected
  • Last day of work for affected individuals (if known)

Find general guidance and links to further information on redundancy for both employers and employees.

Recruitment

If you’re looking to fill urgent vacancies, short or long-term, to meet changes to your business as a result of COVID-19, we can help connect you with immediately available individuals. Please register your vacancies with John Blankley, Senior Employment Support Adviser on 0115 876 4947/07570 671592.

Please have the following information available when registering your vacancies:

  • Nature of work
  • Number of vacancies (can be approximate)
  • Necessary or desirable skills required
  • Location of vacancies
  • Any current recruitment routes you’re using

You can also register any volunteering opportunities in the same way.

Other help available

The Government has recently announced a raft of measures to help businesses through these difficult times.  These include salary support for both the employed and self-employed, loan guarantees, business grants and cashflow easing measures.  Find out more.  In fact, the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) is now open to applications.
